Native Arts Aotearoa is the creative venture of renowned Ngāti Pāoa carver Ronald Petley, whose passion for whakairo is matched only by his commitment to cultural preservation. Each carving tells a story—of ancestors, whenua, and wairua—crafted with precision and guided by tikanga Māori. Trained under the guidance of Tohunga Whakairo (Master Carver) John Mutu, and trained under Gordon Toi at The House of Natives, Ronald now carries forward the legacy by producing intricate carvings and sharing his expertise through wānanga, workshops, and community collaborations. Native Arts Aotearoa is more than an art business—it’s a bridge between generations, a celebration of Māori identity, and an open invitation to experience the depth and beauty of indigenous creativity in Aotearoa.
